distributor removal 90 V6 3.1 L EFI
distributor removal 90 V6 3.1 L EFI
i think my distributor o-ring needs to be replaced due to oil leakage. I plan on removing the cap and marking the location of the rotor button and distributor at the engine and pulling the distributor out and replacing the o-ring and reinstalling everything like it was. a few questions
1. should i set the engine to TDC before i start?
2. will i need a special wrench to remove the hold down bolt?
3. should i put in a new or rebuilt distributor while i have it out or just put the old one back in?
4. will i need to set the timing after this work is done?
5. do i have to remove the hood to get the distributor out?
6. any suggestions or tips or what to watch out for would be appreciated.
thanks,

take note of where your rotor is pointing when you remove the distributor. DON'T Turn it. You can remove the hold down bolt and tab with a 9/16 box end wrench, You can drop a new dizzy if you want, but that's up to you. It's possible to get the dizzy out with the hood on, but, everything is easier with it off of course.
