383.. NEED HELP!!!! BADLY!!!
Ok I have a 350 block bored out .30 over and I just bought a fully forged rotating assembly(with H-beam rods and flattop pistions) deeper oil pan and alot of other things for this motor. I am about to just give up on it because nobody that I bring the motor to can get this thing assembled for me(like clearance it if nessarary and make sure nothing will blow up on me this time) in two weeks. I thought it would be easy for a shop to just put like a couple of days into just throwing this thing together and check things along the way but I guess it takes 4 months + some to even put a finger on it.
Or would I be better of just trying to throw it together with my dad. Which was actually done by the first machine shop that I paid before the motor blew. But I had I-beam rods then do you guys think there will be much of a difference in the clearancing to where I need someone else to do it? Or can I do it and get away with not paying any more jackA**es.

What do you need to clearence? The cylinder skirts? If thats all I would say a die grinder and a carbide burr bit and do it yourself.

Just don't want anybody to do a search some day and say, "See, you CAN bore a 350 .30" over!"
Mostly the pan rail on the block. Sometimes the rod bolt (you need to have the cam and timing set installed when you do this).

Yeah the .30 was a type error. Because I am just really pissed of that I spent $1200 the first time on all the block work alone and the freaking thing blows up on me and then this other machine shop told me he could have it done within two weeks and here I am at two weeks and the idiot hasn't even touched it. Not to mention that I have somewhere around $5000 in the parts I left with him. I think anyone else would be just as pissed as me if this were happening to them. So if it just needs alittle clearancing then I guess I'm going tomarrow to pay a surprise vist and get my money and parts back. thanks for the info guys.
