help with tv cable adjustment

this is for the people having problems like "my car is sluggish in acceleration" or "if i try to increase my speed, it sounds like my car is in neutral and i am going nowhere"
(but this is not saying this will fix your problem, it just helps)

or simply for the people who havent done it in a while.

IF you have a 700r4 or if you car has a TV cable adjuster on it, just press the "D" button and push the back side of the cable into the housing(it is kinda hard if it hasnt been done in a long time, but you should hear it click or "ratchet") push it all the way in, then manually open the throttle all the way, (you can do this 3 or 4 times) and there ya go, your TV cable is now adjusted.....or maybe not READ BELOW!!!!!

*EDIT* this was according to a Haynes manual, BUT according to other threads on TGO you must hold the throttle at WOT and pull the black "wire" or tube back as hard as you can, idk how true it is, but when i just took my girlfriend home, my trans was winding out to almost 4500 before shifting to 2nd, and again to 3rd,and it was shifting hard,(and i was driving through a neighborhood at 25 mph, barely depressing the gas pedal), i guess i have to go readjust 2morrow, and hope for the best.

but if anybody would like to help, let me try and get this straight, and PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG.

from what i understand you must

1st. push in "D" button, and push cable towards TB unit/Carb
2nd. manually go to WOT
3rd. push "D" button again, and pull the cable back as hard as you can while at WOT

is this it, or am i missing something????????

Supposedly that takes any bracket flex out of the equation. You shouldn't have to do Step 1 since you'll be relieving any stress in Step 3.

But, the "factory" way is to push in the D button and pull the housing back (away from TB) and release the button. Open the throttle to WOT, the housing will ratchet to the proper adjustment.

I've never had a problem doing it the "factory" way, and never tried the "no flex" way because it's difficult to do without another person.
