tpi on vortec 350
So i have a motor thats a vortec TBI 5.7L v8.
I have a complete tpi swap from an 86 from computer to fuel rails. Planning on buying the SDPC vortec tpi base because i think i have to, to run the tpi setup.
Now what im wondering is the 86 has the cold start injector. This vehicle will see duty all year round with temperatures up to -40 celcius, so thats probably a good thing. However when i order the vortec base from SDPC does anyone know if they have two different options for with or without the cold start injector?
If they dont have a base with the cold start injector what are my options. Just get a normal base, have to find a newer tpi fuel rail and then programm out the cold start injector from the pcm? (going to be burning chips anyways since its obd1)
Whats by best option here?

its been awhile since I had the runners off, but i thought bases are the same (minus the fact you need the vortec one), and the runners are where the cold start injector and non cold start are affected

I did basically what you're planning to my S-10 All you need to do is buy a tpi 9th injector block off kit from billet works on ebay. This will have a plug for the fuel rail and a blockoff for the injector (the hole that will be left in the runner). Then all you need to do is run an 89 chip with the VATS eliminated. Then you're all set!!

Re: tpi on vortec 350
I used a freeze plug on a couple 9th injector holes in the runner. Cut off the pipe about 1/4" off fitting and soldered up hone, and re-installed on end of fuel rail.
They worked fine.

From what I been reading, most crate engines are tested with a carb, 330HO, 355ZZ4, 385HP, adding a TPI (stock tpi) will reduce horsepower by 30.

Re: tpi on vortec 350
thanks aceez71. Good info ill just run the blockoff on the rail and then im good to go? as far as the chip ill worry about that on the DIY board. Realistically i can just get someone to send me a stock bin thatll work and i can save it to a blank chip. Probably easiest way to go about it.
already have all the tuning stuff for my 90 SD setup
