My motor is mexican!!
As some of you already know i have been building a 350 4 bolt for the last couple of months. As i order parts for it, i noticed some wierd things about the block, for example, it has a dipstick on both sides. I just ran the casting numbers to see what year block this actually was, and i was surprised to find out that it is a 94 model Goodwrench crate engine that was "Hecho en Mexico." The casting is 10066036 if you don't believe me. This engine is special because it is a 94 2-piece rear main seal. It's just wierd overall, it has pre-drilled steam holes, and boltholes that normal chevy engines don't have. Anybody else familiar with one of these?
Re: My motor is mexican!!
Its yer basic low dollar rebuilt engine that was sold as a "crate", meaning it came it in a crate, not that it was high dollar race quality. Its nothing special. If it was made in 94 it was made to be used as a low buck fleet vehicle replacement engine, more than likely. The infamous 260hp 350 engine you see everywhere for 1295. Thats your critter. Nothing wrong with it, necessarily. There are complaints of core shift and all those other things that come with cheap production, but its not as bad as some of the older blocks.

All the GM Targetmaster replacement engines are made in Mexico. They actually use the better castings than production engines.

Yeah, i know it isn't a race block or nothin, i just couldn't find any kind of information on it, then i found the casting number (not where it's supposed to be) and ran them. I was surprised to find out that it was made in mexico.

If you want to see something built in the good ole USA you actually have to move out of the country.. NAFTA ensured us of that one.
