EGR carb to Non-EGR carb
In my car currently is a rochester q-jet with casting #17066221 (1986 chevy 350) And im wanting to put in a rochester that is non EGR (1974 q-jet from 350) I did some searching but there was no real answers. If i just unplug the computer wont that affect my timing and cooling system or are they connected?. also if i switch to the non-egr carb will i see any performance gains? i herd the computer makes it run more efficeint resulting in lost hp.
Thanks kris

Re: EGR carb to Non-EGR carb
Carbs don't have EGR. Not your existing one, not the 74 one.
Your 86 305 has EGR. A 74 350 engine would also have had EGR.
The carb you have is a FAR better carb for "performance" than the one out of the deep dark depths of the ultimate smog era.
Repair what you've got. Much better plan.
