I might get some heads off of a TBI motor. My car is carbed with the V belt set up. Heads are off an 87 TBI, will I need to up grade to the Serp set up?

The 187 castings are not worth using, so if you are paying for them, forget it, if its from a junkyard ask for 416's. (Since you have 87 TBI heads I am assuming its the center bolt valves?) from start to finish about them. I am on my 2nd.


You should not need to switch to serpentine, but I am a little fuzzy on that.
Anyone else on that? I think its mostly a preference..

 

The carb'd heads you have now are better. If your carb engine is 86 or older, you need a different intake manifold to run the 87 or newer heads properly..

Your old belt drive setup will bolt up fine.

 

if you want to pull a boat then get the tbi heads

if you want to go fast use the tbi heads for wheel chocks
