looking to buy a 95 lt1 camaro car has 145k miles on it and guy is telling my the lt1 is rated good all the way up to 200k miles before a rebuild. my question is, is this true and how much is a rebuild for this motor? is the car even worth it?

 

How much for the car? It all depends on how the car was treated really, if she was abused and romped on, the probably no, it wont make 200k, more likely around 175k you'll have problems, but it's all just a ballpark estimate, depending on a bunch of different variables. You could get a better guess by doing a compression test on a few of the cylinders, itll give you a better idea of whats going on inside the engine. As for the rebuild, you can pick up a cheap rebuild kit and do it yourself if youre mechanically inclined to do so, but if not, engine rebuild can get pricey.

 

guy is lookin for $2900 for it without tires or ground effects automatic rebuilt front end and still in primer in some places.

 

I'd think you find one in better condition for that much money. Tires will set you back $1000 for a good set just for the rubber.

 

I've got an '82 LG4 car with 301k miles on it, nothing but maintenance and gasket changes (and tranny overhaul at 265k). I drove it from the Bay area to Colorado with no problems. It passed the Colorado enhanced dyno emissions test after I got it here.

145k on an EFI vehicle should be a cake walk with regular maintenance.
