Changing my tpi. help with cam/head combos
Alright, I am going to be buying the TPIS miniram in replacement of my TPI. Now I was confused as to what kind of a good head/cam combo will go with this. Any ideas would be great. I need 400-500 hp at the wheels. Its a daily driver of maybe 10 miles a day. Not worried bout gas mileage too much. I want mpg in the 12mpg range. lol I just want a car that will keep up with all these insane cars in Central Florida. Im also in the process of getting my transmission rebuilt. So I will have something that will handle the power. Thanx for any ideas

anyway what size motor we talking about? what compression you running?
400 can be had at the wheels with a nice 383 combo but you will probly need to convert to speed density to tune it right and get the proper fuel. who knows tho, maybe the MAF stuff can handle it.
you can easily get 400-500 whp with a 150 shot and a decent heads/cam combo on a 350. thats what i'm shooting for

Ya I was thinkin of buyin another 350 block to do a 383 combo. Well right now lets do 400 horses to the wheels on a 350. What can be done? Am I crazy? What kind of heads and cam combo am I thinking bout here? I want the miniram setup for the fact that its better than tpi and looks great. Oh and 400hp to the wheels with a decent chassis will get me in the 12's? or somewhere within it. I know a lot of what ifs and hypothetical questions, but I'm only 19 and I just want to get a good start on everything

your gonna need some incredible heads and a fairly high revving motor. i know Lt1's have done 400whp but thru manual transmissions. to get an auto in the 400whp range, its gotta be wicked.
I'm thinking some sort of fully ported aftermarket aluminum heads in the 200cc range for sure. something like AFR competition ported cnc'd heads. then get a custom grind cam and build the shortblock to rev, and keep compression near 11 to 1. i wouldnt know where to begin with the cam, hydraulic roller can do it but its gotta be big (something the 230's duration at .050 but with lots of lift, .600 or so) and you will need a expensive light valvetrain. SOlid roller would proby be best bet. that will give you rev ability and make soild power up top.
also gonna need some sort of EFI management, not sure if stock style computer will handle that. proby the speed density stuff may beable to handle it but it will need alot of tuning time
thats for a naturally aspirated setup
i think your best bet for reliable 400whp is a nitrous kit or supercharger

lol ya I figured. just thought maybe someone came up with a combo close to it. I think Im just gonna build my motor I have now to a good 300whp. Then on the side build a wicked engine.
