temp guage not working

my temperature guage is not working I believe that it is either a sensor or the gueage. Where is the sensor for this?

Re: temp guage not working

The temperature sensor for the gauge is on the driver's side of the engine block. The gauge or the wiring could also be at fault.

Ok well I replaced that and still nothing. It works sometimes but not others. Are there any other sensors or should I go the difficult route and change the guage?

Re: temp guage not working

Did you get the correct sensor? There are two, one for a temp gauge, the other for an idiot light. Sometimes the auto shop guys just assume you have the idiot light. The wrong sensor and the gage does not work.

Yes I did get the right one I told them it had a guage and not a light. Ant the guage would have really come in hand when I had a coolant hose with a hole in it yesterday. I almost blew my car up

i think they might have already covered it, but there is a little plug that you tends to fall off from vibrations or other things on the drivers side head. my temp gauge started working after i hooked it up again. that fell out twice on my old camaro.

Re: temp guage not working

hey im having the same issue except the needle says its overheated (which its not) i have a chilton manual and it says i need to drain the coolant.....agree with that or do you think i can just raise the tube above the radiator and itll stop from leaking everywhere? also any specific sensor you guys recommend. I know this was going to happen to my car because the guy i bought it off of says it happens every other yr and he said ony the sensors from napa ever worked for him. Any idea whether thats true or just another napa guy?
