are your plug wires or dizzy geting wet? I use to have a s10 that the previous owner cut a small area out of the wheel well to get the spark plugs out (if anyone has changed the plugs on a 91 s10 4.3 you probably understand) and when it would come a good rain the wires would get wet and do what you are describing. just a thought.

What you're describing is typically some electrical component getting wet and arcing.
