I have a '87 camaro RS. It is equipped with a goodwrench security system (with the number keypad on the the front of the dash). bought the car for $100 and no one knows the code. When I put the key in and turn it to on the fuel pump does not prime. The computer is not sending the the voltage to the relay to activate the pump. Is this caused by the security system? Then when I turn the key to start the car nothing happens either, is this also caused by the security system? The key I have does not have a chip in it, should it? I am trying to eliminate the security system. I unplugged it and re-spliced the yellow wire (under the steering column) that was cut and made into two leads going to the security module. and still I get nothing. Also, when I connect a jumper wire to the diagnostic terminal of the ALDL, it turns on the blower motor. I am at a loss and could use any and all advice.

 

not sure about the security system at all, but as far as the "chip" in the key they didn't start putting "vats" vehicle anti-theft system in the camaro until 89, so it's not that messing your car up. I'd try unplugging the brain of that security system and see what that does.

 

thanks for the info on the key. I have the security module removed and the yellow wire spliced back together. It was cut and made into two leads to the security module. still cant get the car to do anything.
