Whats the curb weight of a 89 rs?
Whats the curb weight of a 89 rs?
Curb (kerb) weight is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables (such as motor oil and coolant), a full tank of fuel, and not loaded with either passengers or cargo
i had a 1989 camaro RS t top car, 305 tbi V8 and automatic trans and put in a 9bolt rear with disc brakes.
i guessed 3200-3400lbs, but i was wondering if anyone knew a more specific number. i want to get a good baseline number to figure out what it weighed after the major diet i put it on.
i did a search and found weights for 1992 cars, but as you know, they were a bit different than 89's ( i think they had ABS or at least airbags)
i gutted her with plans of making it a track dedicated car.
I mean a serious diet. No interior but some of the dash, 15lb racing seat, lightweight fiberglass hood, !front swaybar, !spare and jack, !ALL A/C crap, Powersteering, and replaced it with a manual steering box. if i didnt need it to drive, i took it out. the only thing left was front and rear bumper supports.
i weighed everything, it was in the neighborhood of 450-500lbs of weight dropped. bought my 98trans am, didnt have time for the maro' and sold it to a friend. well if he still has it, im going to buy it back, in hopes to get this car back and maybe get some runs at the track in the future.
it still had the stock manifolds and Y pipe, minus the cat. it also had a cheap catback on there as well. im guessing i could drop a lil weight with headers, and definately drop some weight by removing the catback (35-50lbs) bumpersupports im guessing weigh between 30-40lbs? could also go with a lightweight battery for the track, thats gotta be anywhere between 20-30lbs off as well. i have my daily driver, i have my beater and a sport bike, this car does not have to have any daily driver qualities, strictly track dedicated!!!!!
