What is the value of this engine?
Recently a 409 has been made available me and I was wondering what it is worth. It is rebuilt with about 15min of runtime, has a virgin bore of .030, single carb version but still making at least 425 horse stock
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: What is the value of this engine?
To someone with an early-60s car, it could be worth alot.
To someone without one, it would be worth whatever someone with one is willing to pay for it.
As a desirable platform to mod, it is near worthless, although there are still a few parts left laying around for those "W" blocks here and there.
As something desirable to swap into a car, it is also near worthless; a modern (65-up) big block is capable of FAR more power and better efficiency. That's why the "W"s were discontinued.
Those things didn't make 425 HP stock. They may have been "rated" as that, which is an ENTIRELY different matter, but they didn't produce that. Put it on the dyno and use modern measurement techniques instead of the fanciful and creative ad copy writing that those 60s "ratings" really were, you'll probably find it puts out about 275-300, if it's truly stock.
