305 to 327?
I have a '92 Camaro Z28 with a 305 TPI and a 700-R4. It has 90k and some bolt-ons. I like being different and I didn't want to go with a 350 TPI. I was told a 327 is what I want to go with. Can a 305 become a 327? I know nothing about engines bore and stroke etc. Also if it can become a 327, is it worth it? What hp/tq will I be looking at stock. Will my parts from my 305 go on the 327? (Headers, Accel 24# injectors?) This car is my daily driver right now, but I only drive it to school so a rough ride/bad mpg isn't important to me. LOL...
Thanks

Re: 305 to 327?
A 305 can't become a 327. A 327 is a 350 with a shorter stroke. The 305 is too small of a bore size to do that.
Just put a 350 in it and tell everyone it's a 327. No one will know except you!
Seriously, this gets discussed quite often. There is a reason that chevy ditched the 327 for a 350. And they did it on purpose! Bigger is better if all other things are equal.
If you like being different, then ditch your chevy small block and put a weird engine it! Or find a 400 small block and use that! If you really want to be different you can get a 4.3 V8 chevy small block from the 70's and run that!
You see what I'm saying, right?

Hope you can wade your way through that thread. I never have gotten around to cleaning it up.
"Different" means slower, or more expensive. Or both. And, nobody cares but you. If you're willing to spend more money to be slower so you know you're different, have at it.
