Re: Timing question with photo, is this 2* advanced?
ok hopefully someone can help me with this.. i have a 91camaro with a lo3 tbi motor only mods are full exhaust and a k&n open element. does anyone know the best timing for my motor? on 87 octane. if anyone knows i need the timing on the lowside and topside

Bumping the timing up 4* advanced from whatever the stock spec is usually is a safe bet for better performance without going too far. TBI engines usually can take more than that becuase their timing curves are much less aggressive than higher performance engines, but 4* advanced from stock is a usual/typical/common bump over stock for many GM V8s of that era.

when i timed my stock motor 86 305 HO i found that performance dropped off a bunch at 6 degrees one degree makes a bunch of difference although the stock motors arent barn burners you can get alittle. start by putting in one degree go out drive it if it feels good put in another degree untill performace dropps off then back it off to where it last felt good keeping notes is a good idea here. keep us posted on your findings good luck an be patient
