1983 z28 help??? computer or fuel problem
Ok so I am looking into buying my friends car. it has been in and out of a shop or not running. it isnt getting fuel. they replaced the fuel pump. I believe it is a sending unit. they are checking the injectors tomorrow. Now what I want to know is If I get this car and pull the engine even though I know its good. Would this problem afect me? if its the sending unit I know it will but if its the computer will it? even if I go carb? btw its CFI

Why would you pull the engine?
If you go carb, you need to remove that new pump from the sending unit and put a mechanical pump on the engine (well, don't "need" to, but that would be your best bet for solving the problem).

Re: 1983 z28 help??? computer or fuel problem
first off I don't have to pull it put this was gonna be a project car. I already have my 1992 z28 in almost perfect condition and wanted something to work on. I have a 350 block already. I was thinking just build a nice 350 for it. paint it(it is spray paint black right now) do the interior and have a good driver/performance car. Does anyone know what the problem could be though?

If it's an automatic putting a 350 in it with a carb. and vacuum distributor should be a breeze. The TBI fuel pumps put out too much pressure for a carb. so you either replace the fuel pump (like someone suggested earlier) or put a pressure regulator in the line to drop the pressure down to around 5 to 7 psi for the carb.
