This is my first post here, I like to get some opinions. I just bought a 87 Z28 with a 305 TPI auto trans. I've already bought some part to heat up the preformance, But I live in Nortern California, So we gots the tough smog laws BS. I'm not sure How far I can go on this thing. It will be driven daily, With some drags, autox & open track days(35 miles south of redding drag strip,48 miles north of thunderhill road course. this is what i'm woundering.
My car is rated at 190 Hp. I have worked up an est. of hp increase per mfg. rating per parts, subtracted 1/3 to error on the conservitive side. I come up with 315 hp. without a chip. These est include ported intake base, tubes & plem 20hp(have it).. Tpis fast pack type parts & mods 17hpHave most of). comp cams 262 hydraulic roller cam 20 hp(have it). msd 6al 8hp. Edelbrock headers w/ banks stinger exaust. 61 hp. These hp are 1/3 off mfg spec. does sound right? or am I off. At what point do I need to mod the chip? Your please! If this sound good whats next?

 

Horsepower increases from modifications aren't additive like that. Parts A and B may each give you 10 HP if you installed them independently, but only 12 HP if you installed them together. Some of your estimates seem high, marketing copy needs to be taken with a large dose of salt. Case in point, you'll get 0 HP over stock from an MSD 6AL, not 8.

 

What would the est output be with those items (I also ahve a tpis big mouth comming)?
What would it take to get the 325-350 hp range?
Would porting the LB9 head get it there?
