Starting/ battery drain problems
I recently replaced my starter. After the install, the starter kept draining the battery when i'd crank it. My injectors are clogged up pretty bad so it doesnt start up instantly. By the time its at the point to start (3-4 secs), the battery is dead. When i did get it running, I could drive it around, then when i shut it off, it'd be dead again. So i took it to advanced auto and they said alternator, which is what i thought it would be too. So i bought the alternator and put it in, got it running, drove it, shut it off, tried to start it again. Now i get 2 cranks to try to start it, but after that the batterys dead. Is it possible theres a problem with how the starters hooked up? could it be something else? Battery is new... Help?...
Thanks

Re: Starting/ battery drain problems
I would put a meter on the battery when you get it running and check the charging voltage. It should be around 14 volts. Some of the alternators the discount auto parts stores sell are crap.

Re: Starting/ battery drain problems
well the problem was the battery was bad, and it fried the original alternator because it was constantly trying to charge it. So i got a new battery today and everything is working right.
