I just bought a 1985 z28. It was an automatic but was converted to a 5 speed. Its a 305 TPI. Well here's my story when I first got the car sometimes when I turned the key to start the car it would click and not start right away but after a couple of times it would start. No big deal just needed a starter soon. Well one day i went to start the car no click no nothing all lights work fine. I looked under the car and saw a wire loom hanging down. In that wire loom there is 3 wires. Black, purple and looks like an orange with a black stripe. Where the H!@# do they go??? the starter solenoid has the main 12v constant hook up and another wire to the R side of the solenoid. the 3 wires in the loom looked like it use to have a harness of some sort connected to it. I'm assuming the purple goes to the starter side of the solenoid but what about the other 2??? Help its my first camaro and this is my first post. Thanks any input would help.

 

the small wire gos to the small solenoid terminal the other two go to the bigger terminal along with the battery cable, make sure the terminals are real clean and double check your fusible links to make sure you are getting power on both sides. i have the same issue with the click now myself and ill be looking into that this week .

 

Colors of the wires? there already wires hooked up to the big terminal and one small terminal marked r on it. Sorry you gotta make it dummy proof for me...

 

Sorry just to clarify out of the 3 wires where they go they are all in the same wire loom only one post left on the starter solenoid marked S. The colors are black, purple, and orange w/ black stripe.

 

yes that is correct

 

so all three go to that last post because the big post already has power cables to it and one post marked R has a wire hooked to it. the last post marked S is the only one left. just dont want to fry anything.

 

the one on the r side should be on the s side towards the engine block i beleieve it is a small terminal.
