3rd oil pan gasket third leak??????????
okay so i got a new oil pan and gasket and this time even put a dab of silicon in the corners and now im leaking again from that spot in the front lip of the gasket inthe dead center... but i saw an oil build up befor i had even put oil in the car?????? like after the bolts for the pan were torqued their was oil in the front lip.. could it be the timing cover chain seeing as in its only a one drop kinda leak? or main seal?

See if you can follow the oil trail. It could be your timing cover or still your oil pan gasket. I use silicone on both sides of the gasket in the front and rear corners of the pan.

yes it can very well be the balancer seal
very common issue on SBC engines
wears a deep groove into the balancer snout and leaks there
they have a sleeve repair kit for this very inexpensive at any parts store
i always black TRV seal the entire front oil pan rubber seal
top and bottom of it seal it to the timing cover and to the oil pan both
have to do this almost always to make it not leak
i always do this on my engines i build for ppl or own personally
same with the front and rear intake rubber seals, i dont even use those
they are junk
use rtv black only to seal

hey use the one piece rubber gasket with the steel shim and crudh sleeve inserts with silicone at the corners, and change the pcv valve. It souns stupid but if it's clogged or not funtioning properly it will cause the oil pan to leak. I've seen it on older chrysler 383's and seen it on small blocks too.
