I just installed a new fuel pump and when i went to launch on it it seemed like it was gonna blow up. the rpm gauge was bouncing hard as i went up. I thought it was pinging since my timing is at 14* or so. I have meant to lower it but iot wasnt pinging before. Now it seems to be. It is like the valves are coming undone.

Also when in park it doesnt ping, since its not under load correct?


Could there be any similar symptoms with a bad tranny?

 

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

Tape it to the windshield, go for a ride with a friend.

What is the fuel pressure value at idle, cruise and when you launch the car
hard?

 

i'd say bump that base timing down to 8

 

Like it should 40 idle, 42-44 cruising and 48 orso wot.

It didnt do it the second time i drove it today. It did pull timing when i slammed on it.

i bought a timing gun just now to do it. It was running fine with out it and i was going to lower it when i installed my megasquirt, but i need to do it now.
