Re: hot start timing
so today i install the interior and hit the road for the first time and guess what i kill the engine and with about 4* of initial timing and after i killed the engine it cranked until the battery was low which was 7 or 8 times then then some one jumped me and it kicked right over what is that all about? why wouldn't it have turned over the first couple of cranks when it was strong?

Re: hot start timing
wow I am sorry that I missed a response to my own post! No I don't have a vacuum advance I still have the stock dissy on there. I set the timing back to 5* and put an accel super coil on there I also have charged the battery thoroughly at this point and I haven't had any problems yet. Now that it has stopped raining here in mass I can enjoy my car, although it is still below freezing.

Re: hot start timing
If the CC Qjet was removed (stock on '87 LG4), the ECM is missing the TPS input as well as the mixture control output to run in closed-loop operation.
If enough stuff is messed up and it can't control the engine, it enters "limp-home" mode which locks the timing in a narrow range.
If you're going to run a non-cc carb, you will have to get a dizzy that doesn't use the ECM to control the timing.

Re: hot start timing
thank you I happen to have one lying around and I guess I'll see if I can get it into operable condition. What about my knock sensor once the oem dissy has been removed?
