305 tpi vs 350 tbi
305 tpi vs 350 tbi
i saw a thread like this on this forum already, but i read it and never really got a solid answer.
People either said "there's no replacement for displacement" or "305 tpi's are just as fast as 350 tbi's."
So as a camaro newb, Im confused.
Which is a faster in a camaro? iroc-z 305 tpi or a 350 tbi pulled out of a 88 chevy truck.

Well, there's a lot of open-endedness about that question. Did you put the TPI on the 350, or run the TBI? Did you change the cam or exhaust? Did you do any PROM tuning?
If you upgrade the cam and exhaust, and did whatever might be necessary to properly support those upgrades, the 305 TPI and 350 will run pretty close together. Port either head and put 1.94" valves in the 305 heads, upgrade the cam & exhaust, put the 305 TPI heads on the 350, do whatever upgrades are required to support all that, and it'll outrun the 350 with the TBI heads on it.
The TBI heads do best at lower valve lifts and RPMs. Go above those lift and RPM levels, and the 305 heads take over.
Of course, stock TPI will be your next bottleneck.
Are you starting to understand why you didn't come up with a solid answer?
