Rocker Arm Stud Length

I want to install screw in rocker studs, but I do not want to have to machine the heads for guideplates because I already have self aligning rockers. How do I determine what length stud to use? Thanks!

Would these work?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Rocker Arm Stud Length

It'd be much wiser to properly machine the heads anyway rather than half-a$$ing it, since they have to have some machine work anyway, and just put washers under the studs.

THat way, in the future if you ever DO need to install guide plates for whatever reason, they're ready; and you won't have to take them off and do it over.

I have already done machine work on my heads, I do not want to pull them off again, and I already have self aligning roller rockers and do not want to buy different rockers. I am planning an LSx swap in the future, and am only making reliability changes to the engine now. thanks for the input though. If i was doing anythign more serious then thats the way I would go!

Sonix, thank you! The only question I have is how would I install them? There isn't a way to tighten them like other studs I have seen...or are my eyes deceiving me?

Re: Rocker Arm Stud Length

You put two 3/8NF nuts on it and jam them together. Or grab it on the smooth shank and use a pipe wrench.
Use sealant or red loctite to hold it in place.
