intake manifold question
Ive been getting my new 350 chevy ready to go into the car, put the intake manifold on the other night, put loads of sealant around the water ports, and some on the bottom of the rubber seal that goes along the narow side (the dissy side and the water neck side) of the maifold (from head to head) but NONE on the top of the rubber seal (which the manifold lays on)
ive checked to see if there is any gaps and can't see any ive torqued the bolts in the right order and sits nice. Does this mean i have to get a new gasket set and more sealant or you think this will hold? dont fancy starting the engine for the first time and oil leaking all over.

"Loads of sealant" isn't a good thing.
Silicone tends to make rubber seals slip around if torqued before setting.
But, you may be okay.

Re: intake manifold question
I never use the end seal on a sbc anyway. They always go in the trash, and a nice bead of permatex finds it way there. I have rarely had one leak like this. On the other hand, when I used the end seals, i rarely had one that didnt leak.
