Low-mid 400s of HP (425-440ish), and around 450 ft-lbs of torque, at the flywheel... probably run mid-high 12s, like 12.6-12.8 or thereabouts

Re: 383 combo??
i'd say thats about right.. 450 hp or so on motor.
Can run low 12's to 13's depending on how you setup the car, and how heavy it is
And also the weather conditions
considering that small stall speed, it will go mid 12's at best on drag tires

what would u recomend for stall i was looking at a pi 2800 9.5" it also will eventualy see a 125 shot. and all the tuning will be with a wideband on my commander 950
it used to weigh 3650 with me in it. i have since got some alluminum heads, removed the a/c.

Re: 383 combo??
probly weighs about 3575 now with you in it. AC is about 25lbs, heads are 50 ish
2800 isnt bad if your gonna street drive it alot. I'd personally go 3200-3400. My 383 is going to be abit more aggressive than yours and i'm goin 3600-3800 ish

Re: 383 combo??
thats gonna be a good match. 3.73's with 3200 stall will make for some good times out of that setup. I see no reason why you cant touch low 12's with that power and that weight.

Re: 383 combo??
shift firmness has nothign to do with the converter speed. Thats all controlled by the valving/pressures in the trans. That you can custom taylor to your needs

Re: 383 combo??
well. with stock stall and 2.73's it would chirp 2nd
put 3.73's in and wouldnt chirp 2nd
added the 2400 stall and the chirp came back

Re: 383 combo??
i'm not sure whats causing that. It really shouldnt matter. I only could chirp the tires when i had shift kit installed, reguardless of what gear/stall i had. I had 2.77's, 3.27's and now 3.42's and noticed no difference in shifts over stock stall vs 2800 and gear vs gear
The only thing i can conclude is that with a higher stall, there is less rpm drop between gear shifts. So when you go into second gear from top of first, your rpms are higher when in 2nd now with the converter, so you are technically getting more power to the wheels between shifts by keeping the motor in the power band better. Maybe that had the effect
