Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
they wont fit under stock valve covers...need tall covers or a spacer plate for stock ones.

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
Is there a set of 1.6 rockers that are self aligning that will fit under the stock covers?

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
I believe all of the "narrow" 1.6 ratio on a 3/8 stud, will fit under a stock valve cover, Or you can go with the, roller tip rockers, in a 1.6 ratio, and they will fit, plus they are affordable.

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
Alright well I am clueless as to which ones to choose. ANy ones better than the other. I have been searching on here and everyone has their opinion. I just want em to fit under the valve cover, be 1.6 ratio and its for a roller cam.

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
I went with the chrome moly roller tip rockers, because they are stronger than the aluminum roller rockers, I have seen the aluminum ones break in half. Let alone, the narrow ones you have to use for these valvecovers, plus they are less than half the price.

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
comp cams magnum rockers fit. I ran them on my stock covers just fine. part # 1418-16. 172 bucks shipped on ebay
1.6 ratio but they are steel not aluminum. not a bad thing, as steel is stronger and less prone to fatigue failure.
the pro magnums i've heard hit on the stock covers tho

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
well thats fantastic news... i just spend 225 on a set of aluminum roller rockers and they are the inferior and more expensive choice? how many miles can i expect to get out of them before i need to start watching for one letting loose?

I believe they are talking higher rpm power handling. You will be fine as long as you dont consistently beat it down with lots of power

Re: 1.6 roller rocker installation
under heavy tension from big powerful valve springs will definately beat on a aluminum rocker, but i'm not sure how long it would take before i'd get worried about running them. For most setups you will be fine for awhile. They definately are not your 100K mile setups or the factory would use them, but they definately are not a 5-10K mile running piece either.
Other than that, i think you will be fine for awhile. after 10-20K miles i'll take a look at them to see how they are. maybe every 10 K miles, pop the cover off and take a peek. You may need to search on the topic, because i'm not sure how well they hold up in street motors, i'm just goin by what i've heard/read in a few places. ITs definately a possibility but not an immediate one
