good combo

Hey guys posted before im doin a 305 to 350 swap.
Heres the parts i have
94-350 block out of a truck (roller block)
083 heads* soon to be ported and polished.
eagle rotating assembly.
305 tpi setup (but i have 350 computer to swap in and injectors all the other required stuff i got from the 305 to 350 guide)
My question is with the cam would this be a decent cam/top end setup. I need to keep this emmissions friendly. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated

Maybe Im just a tight *** but that seems a little expensive to me. I would think you could score a better deal than that around. To answer the question, if you port the TPI heads, that would be a pretty good combo, IMO. The heads will need some machine shop work, to take that kind of lift though.

Re: good combo

So this should be a good strong combination for an engine build. Any ideas on the emissions will i be able to pull this off on a stock 350 prom or should i have a pcmforless tune ordered?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: good combo

Should be fine, might even work at least somewhat semi sort-of kind-of OK with the stock tune. Well enough at least to get to the chassis dyno so you can tune it.

Will almost certainly run better with the right tune.

In NO case would the right answer be, a mail-order tune, from ANYBODY. Every engine, driver, car, set of operating conditions, fuel source, and so on, is DIFFERENT, meaning, the ideal tune for EVERY engine, is also DIFFERENT. The ONLY way you'll ever get it "perfect" is to tune your ECM to YOUR circumstances. Go here for learning how to tune it yourself.

Re: good combo

Yes there are lots of them.

You WANT a roller cam. They cost about $250, JUST FOR THE CAM.

Then you still need all that other stuff: the lifter, dog-bones, spider, cam retainer, and the hardware for it all. Or, you need to buy "retrofit" hyd roller lifters, which are even more $$$$.

It's not a bad idea to just buy-it-now; it's a decent enough deal, even if you don't want to use that cam. It will cost you WAY WAY WAY more than that to buy it all new. If you want to swap cams, just the cam alone, can be put back and re-sold on eBay for about $125. Some of that stuff, you have no use for; the rockers and push rods especially, are a bunch of trash, not worth shipping around.
