hotchkis sway bar wont fit back on

Engine: 350ci
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.73
hotchkis sway bar wont fit back on

took off the sway bar above the motor to polish my intake and runners but when done couldnt put it back together the screw wouldnt fir back in, i tried prying it from the other side but nothing...should i loosen the bracket that attached to the car a little? any suggestions? thanx
