timing

i know its in here and i searched a few pages and i got sick of it i am wondering being from ma and buying the car from nh if the high altitude made that much of a difference that the timming was set at 19 * just got the car took it for a ride and sounded funny havnt heard pingin in a while but wow check the timing was like 19 to 23 think 23 w/the check plug still pluged in just wondering if anyone ever heard of that much advanced timing i am used to vacum timing not electronic

Base timing? 8-12 deg is the standard for 87 octane DD kinda deal.
