Should i get a new intake manifold?

Stock GW350 bottom
comp xe274
al.190cc 2.02/1.94 heads. gasket matched
holley 670 vac. sec.
hooker shorties
holley "street dominator" intake. couldn't find a p/n. looks like a high rise.
3 inch cervini hood (if that makes a diff.)
DUI distributor on the way
new gm serpentine setup on the way

I was looking for some opinions on intake choices and if the $200 would be worth it.

I'm not trying to build a drag car, just something to have fun in.

thanks for any info

Re: Should i get a new intake manifold?

i like the performer rpm for all around performance this intake has a power band from idle to 6500 this is a dual plane high rise probably similar to the holley dominator ,either will work fine for you considering the cam you are using ,ive been down this road your combo sounds a lot like a engine i built some years ago ,engine made good power and would lite up the tires at my command i also ran a 670 vs . as for the davis unified ignition ive heard good and bad about them i personally like accel or msd dist. accel makes a really good sr piece that you can buy at any local parts store for around 126.00 as long as you use the correct advance springs , i lost a little horsepower with the shorties so i switched to under chassis from hedman with a good gear sounds like you will have a strong 13 to 14 sec performer nitrous is another storyyou did not mention what convertor or gears you plan on running if its going to be street i would run at least a 3.73 and 2500 to 2800 stall speed this will keep the car very streetable for you oh got my serp setup from a 87 chevy caprice at junkyard for 30.00 bucks works better than anything i know have fun dude ---------------------------------bigzeke355cid92bird

If its the 300-36 Street Dominator, then I'd leave it. Its a pretty good manifold for a setup like that.

Re: Should i get a new intake manifold?

Thanks for the replies. Is the only difference between a DUI and any other aftermarket dist. the springs?
I have a bowtie overdrives 700 with a 2400 conv. and 3.73 gears.

I don't know anything about selecting springs. I think i am going to go with the msd e-curve and just play with it until i get it right.

Bigzeke, what plugs did you use with that engine?? The one's i put in first were wrong so i am going to get either accel 414s or 416s.

Re: Should i get a new intake manifold?

ive always used ac delco r45ts if i were spraying i went with the colder r43ts ive used those accel plugs before and had trouble with them fouling out but they will work and i know people who swear by them my dad ran them in his wagon and it has a indy cylinder head 440 and he swears by them 2400 conv and 3.73 s youll move something sounds good ,the dui is a different ball game when it comes to dist they are all based on the hei style but i heard that guys were furious after these things burned out
