Max lift on stock head
Max lift on stock head
Anybody know where I can find out what the max lift on a 462624 head is? I read on one site .560 but that sounds way to much and I would need better springs as well correct? If so I have one hell of a valvetrain combo in mind.

Its not .560.... the LT1 aluminum heads can do that much stock, but not a generic SBC head. They are limitted to around .470 or so typically.

They're good to .480 lift with the z-28 springs. Any more lift they will probably need machined.

Vortec heads can get .550 with a spring swap. For more than that your choices are aftermarket heads or a machine shop.

Why are you wasting your time with the 624 heads?
