Heads

i recently found a nice set of trickflow aluminum heads in my area.

problem is they claim to be set up for a roller set up and i have a mechanical flat tappet engine... what makes the difference, i never knew and it seems to be something id like to finally figure out. and will they work fine on my engine?

Re: Heads

Roller set up means they have stiffer springs that can handle more lift. That's a good thing. It'll work great for your setup.

Re: Heads

hey you dont want to run a solid lift cam with solid roller spring pressure you have to check seat pressure first if it is too much youll wipe out the lobes on the solid lift ,check to see if the heads havae dual springs depending on lift you might can remove the inner spring if this confuses you simply order some springs from comp or blue racer or someone the are n o more than 70 to 100.00 bucks and save your roller springs for when you upgrade but those heads are on a lot of 500 horse motors where im from ---------------------------------------bigzeke355cid92bird
----------
rollers also have high spring pressure because it makes the valvetrain more stable at high rpms-----------------bigzeke355cid92bird

Re: Heads

Probably set up for a hydraulic roller, not a solid roller. If the solid flat cam is already broken in it should be fine. Check with the cam manufacturer and tell them what springs you want to use and see what they say.

Re: Heads

Get the heads, and change the springs to a set that matches your cam - springs are cheap!!
