this is a weird one bent dipstick hole. need help

i just pick up this GTA and when i got home i saw it has no dipstick. so I took the dipstick from my formula and tryed to put it in the gta but it got jamed and would not go down all the way. I looked at the dipstick hole and its bent up pritty bad. how do i change it out and put a new one in. I have no idea how low the oil is and i need to get this done fast.

I'm not sure how clear of a view you have, but it may be the remains of a broken dipstick causing problems. It might be good to check for.... if not, then it's a new one to me. I've never seen a block get bent there.

I think he means the dipstick tube is bent. It's just pressed into a hole in the block (there might be a tab on it bolted to something also, can't remember), but getting it out (and a new one in) probably won't be a lot of fun with the engine in the car. Try grabbing it with a pair of vise grips, as close to the block as possible to avoid breaking it, and slowly turning it back and forth, and pulling up at the same time. Once it's out, find a new one, put a little oil on the part that slides into the block, and slowly tap it in with a small hammer.

If it's anything like the one on my '87 IROC, there's a reason the previous owner didn't fix it. I did get mine in, but it sure wasn't a fun time.
