305 engine work
heres the thing my t-5 transmission has been grinding lately so im im goin to put my 85 trans-am on jacks and rip that transmission out and give it a overhaul. ok now that the car is on jacks iv been noticing that the sparkplug from cylinder #7 is realy dirty and iv noticed oil in the intake so im guesing that cylinder has a blowby problem. well if i had mony i would get an engine jack but since i cant afford one i decided i mise as well take advantage of the car being on jacks and do some work. well i realy dont feel like spending all day scraping a head gasket of the heads and cylinders since im getting performance heads in a few weeks and i could do it later. so iv decided on working from the oilpand up. first i would pull the sparkplugs so that there is no vacuum and making more work than i need. then i would take the exhaust system then i would pull the oil pand off,oil pump and the crankshaft and vwala i will have free access to the pistons. any advice would be good and im all ears

If you weren't going to have the transmission out, it may be worth doing it in the frame. But you're going to wind up with a block & crank held in by 2 bolts.
