84 Firebird V8 won't start- No dash warning lights
84 Firebird V8 won't start- No dash warning lights
I have an 84 Firebird SE with a 350 and carburation. (Aftermarket 350, but basically a mid-eighty's GM 350.)
I hadn't driven the car all winter and I was getting it going again. I had to get a new battery, and on the first try the car started up and ran like a champ. I turned it off to check the oil again etc. and now it won't start anymore.
When I turn the key to the on position the dash warning lights do not come on although the headlights work strong. There is also the tic, tic, tic, tic, sound coming from the carburator (I think it is the fuel pump priming up)
When I turn the key I just get the one time clunk sound of the starter, not a crank, crank, crank sound like its really trying to start.
Any ideas- I would just say it is a bad started but no dash warning lights is throwing me off.
Thanks,
Sean

sounds like the starter, not sure about the dash lights, try smacking the starter with a hammer while having someone turn the key..

I tried the old Hammer trick. The starter is in a bit of a tough spot, so maybe I wasnt getting a great wack at it, but I am still concerned about the lack of dash warning lights.
Anyone have any ideas?
If it warms up again, (frigging Wisconsin is back in the low 50s today) I will probably just replace the starter and see where it gets me, but I would love to hear ideas about the Dash Warning Lights.
