Cleaning Cylinder Heads

I got a pair of heads that seem to have some dirt in the ports. I wana get that stuff out before i start up the engine. I dont wana take out the valves and dissasemble the heads. Whats the best way to do this? I was thinking about using a rag and alil bit of oil to wipe the ports out. Any suggestions?

Re: Cleaning Cylinder Heads

is it "dirt" or is it carbon built up ? if it's carbon I would take the heads apart, no big job really ... especially if you have carbon deposits on the valves, combustion chambers and all ports ... if that's the case.... use oven cleaner in a spray can .. and leave the heads in a cool kinda damp spot (outside overnight is perfect) to let the oven cleaner work ... works absolutely perfect
