But what wires go to them? I got rid of the ECM and the wiring harness that was attached to it.

The passenger side is the fan temp switch, the driver's side is the temp switch for your dash gauge.

The passenger switch directly turns on one of the fans (through a relay). It goes on pretty high though. Something like 250F The driver side one tells (told) the ECM what the temp was. The ECM controlled the other fan relay. That one was supposed to come on around 215F

Re: Where is the fan temp. sender?

How can I make the fan come on at 215 or 200? I think I found the fan relay on the drivers side... do I just run the smaller wire (I think it's green or something) to the temperature sensor?

Re: Where is the fan temp. sender?

You need to replace the fan temp turn-on switch in the passenger side head with one from a '86-'87 Buick Grand National. It bolts right in and had a turn-on temp of about 205 degrees. There are aftermarket ones that turn the fan on at 185 degrees but they are more expensive.

The only other way to turn the fan on sooner is with a manual toggle switch connected to the fan relay.

I'm very intrigued by this (getting a grand national switch), however, didn't those come with 3.8 motors?

Re: Where is the fan temp. sender?

I thought the one in the front of the intake was for the fans? Not the CTS, but the other one with a fuel injector type connector, next to the CTS. If not, what's this one for?

Re: Where is the fan temp. sender?

That would be for the cold-start injector on an 85-88 TPI setup.
