Fuel tank
Hey I am putting in a new engine in my 89 IROCZ and know that the fuel tank is old and probably rusty. I was wondering if there was a way to put in a fuel cell in the stock tank location, or where a good place is to buy a tank that I can trust.

Re: Fuel tank
ill give you 3 choices from cheapest to expensive
1 remove tank, fill with a good solvent and put a CLEAN piece of big cahin about 2 feet long in there and bash it around for a long time, drain and do again. you can use the tank right now and itll be way more safe, or you can coat the inside of it (google for tank coatings)
2 (my favorite), rip a 4th gen plastic tank out from a salvage yard or ebay and install in stock location (search the threads on this site for tips on this)
3 remove old tank, buy a big fuel cell and throw it in the hatch area as well as a roll cage and 5 point harnesses. in case you don't catch my drift,, fuel cells are for race cars or cars that tromp the town. you can get one custom made to fit stock location... but first two options are waaay better.
hope thatll help you

Re: Fuel tank
thanks man, that really did help. I didn't know you could fit a 4th gen in, I can get my hands on one of those pretty easy, I will look around some more on the site to try to find any addition info I might need.
