I'm looking for a used lt1 cam and I came across a fairly cheap one from a 96 impala ss lt1, what are the specs? Are they the same as the vette/maro cams or no?

 

i thought i heard the F-body cam was different but cant remember

 

The cams are significantly different:

B-Body LT1: INT - 191º .418" EXH - 196º .430" LSA - 111º GM P/N 10243779

F&Y -Body LT1: INT - 203º .477" EXH - 210º .480" LSA - 117º GM P/N 12551705

Y-Body LT4: INT - 203º .476" EXH - 210º .480" LSA - 115º GM P/N 12551142

Y-Body "Hot" Cam - INT - 218º .525" EXH - 228º .525 LSA - 112º GM P/N 24502586


Basically, the B car cam is a reasonably good choice for a 305 TPI. The standard F/Y car cams are a decent factory grind for a 350. The LT4 "Hot" cam would require head work, but in a standard installation with 1.5:1 rockers, the specifications are much closer to the stock LT1 cam. (The LT4 used 1.6:1 aluminum rockers to yield the specs above.)
