Which of the belt driven accessories would most likely rattle?

When the car is at a certain temp it will make a rattle sound like a bearing going out, and now it seems to be more of a whine. I can't pinpoint it but it is from the front of the motor. Is there a certain accesory that would sound like that when it is failing. How can I find out which one it is? Alt. and ps are working fine, the ac wasn't engaged when the sound was happening.

Alternators are known to whine when they get old, even if they are working just fine. Same goes for PS pumps.
