Might wanna consider buying a v8 parts car with hopefully a good eng or tranny you can use. You're going to wind up needing all sorts of stuff you probably haven't thought of to do a v-6/v-8 conv (i.e. exhaust sys, intake, ign, ecm, ecm wiring harness, cooling sys, driveshaft?, accessory brackets, etc). That nickle and dime stuff really adds up. I went from a 305-CFI to a 350-TPI and needed a lot of stuff off the parts car.

Depends on what you want really. Any 350 can be swapped in, just depends on your wallet. I had 305, wanted a 350, but didn't have much budget - picked up a used rebuilt 1969 350 with mild cam for $800 carb to pan. Went carb to avoid the chip programming, so it's all old school now - if you're emissions will allow, carb is the easiest way to go. You'll need a different tranny for a 350 anyway. And motor mounts will have to be moved. I'm not sure what else - there will be a sticky in the swap section on V6 to V8.
