305 Heads

I have a 91 Camaro RS 305 5.0L, looking for suggestions on which heads to place on this motor. Thanks

Re: 305 Heads

Hey Robert,
What are your plans for the car in the long run? Heads are big $, might as well get the ones that will suit you best eh?
Any other upgrades so far? Exhaust, cam, etc?
Any other upgrades planned to go along with the heads? Or soon after?
Budget for this modification? How deep are your pockets?

Re: 305 Heads

Nothing has been done to the engine, from the Y-pipe back on the exhaust I bumped it up to 3" piping. I know for the 305 the top end is dragging the engine down. I been reading alot of articles about people grabbing almost 3 to 400 Horses out of a 305. I'm about to rebuilt mine, just like to try and get alittle more power out of it.

Re: 305 Heads

well if your about to pull your motor out anyways then i would just spend the money on a 350. just find a old 350 at a junkyard that has a good crank in it well one that you can use and get machined. all 305 and 350 parts are almost the same price when it comes to pistons and all that. im just saying go 350 cause you want to do heads and those arent cheap so might as well put some heads on something thats worth it

Re: 305 Heads

Vortec heads and a Vortec type manifold should work nicely.
