cars on the side of the road, loud ticking...
I noticed earlier in the day that if i got on the gas pretty hard it made a loud ticking or knocking, i drove it to work and when i got out of work and was driving it home it got consistantly worse, i was barely giving it any gas and it was doing it so when i was going up a hill it made a pretty loud one and i felt it in the gas peddle and heard the rpms lk jump down and u put in the clutch, it stalled. It seemed to be coming from the #7 cylinder.
I adjusted all the rockers, tightened the header, tightened the intake manifold, adjusted the timing, nothing helped.
Anybody know anything? this is the second week i have had my car out.... really sucks.

Can you get a video of it or discribe it in a little more detail? How is your oil pressure?

A compression test may be in order.
How did you determine that it was coming from cylinder 7?

the oil pressure was fine the whole time, trust me i made sure i was checking it every 5 seconds... at first i thought it was something smacking against the firewall because it really sounded like somebody was smacking a wrench against the firewall. it really sounds like #7, its on the right side of the motor if you are standing up front, and its all the way back... im going to pull that spark plug in a little bit and see if i can see anything...

Re: cars on the side of the road, loud ticking...
I just picked up my car... first off, my friend that waqs helping me out adjusted the valves wayyyyy to tight. The guy who was working on it pulled a bent pushrod out that he thinks was from being overtightened, but the same valve that that pushrod came out of leaked when he did a leakdown test but it seems to be running fine... so he said there could have been a carbon deposit stuck in there causing it to leak.
as a result of the overtightening, some of the lifters may have collapsed (there is a new ticking) so i am gonna get some more, but should i replace ALL of them or just the bank that was overtightened? Also will anything be damaged by running it with collapsed lifters?
As of the knocking I was hearing... it didn't do it after he replaced the rod and reajusted the valves. wierd huh?
