ok guys, the car started running lean (smelled like it anyways), then was left ideling for 5 min, was fine, smeeled a little lean, then driving home it just shuts off real gentle, i barely even noticed. pushed it home, lt it cool off (was running 150 degrees, gotta love a well tuned efi engine, didnt wanna burn myself working on it), went to start it, cranked, fired once that was it, did that once more, then it just turns over and over, its getting fuel i can smell it with the plugs out, but no spark. the security light comes on when i put the key to run, but shuts off after 5 seconds or so, and vats is bypassed in the ECU, and i hardwired past the vats module in the drivers kick pannel. the security light never used to come on at all. i checked spark, and there is none. new plugs, wires, dizzy (accel), coil (gm blaster), all within 6k miles, all fuses are good. i need some ideas, because im outta them. thanks - alex

 

what does it smell like when its running lean?

 

kinda like burning rubber a little bit, the car just smells hot, my neighbor whos a old car guy said it smelled lean when i got home (pushing it for 2 miles )
