GM cam identification?

Recently got a used roller cam marked 600 GMPT BC 13 600 3. I'm assuming 600 is the last three of the part number, does anyone know how to look it up or what it is?

Re: GM cam identification?

Well I'm thinking I got screwed on this one, it was suppose to be a stock 95 camaro LT1 cam but god only knows what it is, nobody on here seems to be able to identify it. Is there anyway to figure out the specs? Can I measure the lobes or something? I really want to get this in the engine put the engine in the car and I'm running out of time, have to have the car out of where I'm working on it by the end of the week.. I'd really like to know what it is that I'm putting in there..

Re: GM cam identification?

yeah measure the lobe across at the widest point and then again at the smallest point.. the difference between the to is the lobe lift then multiply that number by 1.5 to get your valve lift and compare it to the lt1 specs

The info I have is that the Cam may have came from a 91-93 Caprice 350 Cop Car. That's all the info I have. Maybe you can look up the Spec's on that engine.

Re: GM cam identification?

That was some note that I had made in my note pad back when I was looking for a cam for the TBI engine I had in my Camaro before I did a engine swap to a crate 350. Can't find any spec's. Maybe it wasn't worth writing down, I don't know. I wrote a lot of notes then. I'm sure that the two LT1 cams that I know of don't have those numbers. The one for the 94-96 Camaro & Firebirds has the numbers 705 stamped on it. The one for 94-96 Caprise have the numbers 779 on it, which is the milder of the two. That's all I can tell you. I hope I didn't send you on a wild goose chase.

Vortec truck engine camshafts also have 779 cast into them. My 1996 LT4 cam had another 3 digit number cast into it, but I can't remember what they were.
