i have a 84 z28 the veci label says unplug 4 wire connector which i dont see the book says unplug tan wire with black stripe that i cant find 305 motor can anybody tell me where i might find the wire so i cant set my timing i appreciate any help thanks.

 

i had a gmc that was s'posed to have that mysterious tan/black wire, never found it. I jusr disconnected the knock sensor and timed as usual

 

look over by the blower motor thats where mine is but yours isnt injected so yours should be vacuum advance if so just unhook vacuum and plug it time it put it back.

 

mine has that elec control carb or whatever its called.

 

does it have a vacume line going to the distributor ? if it does there will not be a black and tan wire.
