Under hood insulating material needed?
The big mat of insulating material under the hood is falling off and chunks are coming off in my hand.
Is this something I need to replace? I'm sure the hood will get hot without it but if it won't hurt anything I will let it go for a while. Currently spending money on other parts of the car.
What about the paint? I have pretty good paint on the car. Will it damge the hood paint to get really hot? Its 100* outside here as it is?

Well, ive only had my Camaro for a week or so, and im no car professional but if the paint starts to come off or you engine overheats you may want another heat blanket. I can check my local pull a part for you if you want. I go there every few weeks and i can help you out.

How much did it run you from the GM dealer? I have a very nice paint job that was on the car when I got it, so I'm not sure I want to chance it.

i ran my car several years in s. florida and 2 yrs. in ms. gulf coast with no problems . white camaro , its there more for sound than insulation from heat . do not remove rubber seal strip from rear of hood . removed it allows eng. fumes to be pulled into a/c . re-installed mine after in town stop and go traffic caused fumes and watering eyes .

The rubber seal is long gone. Was missing when I bought the car. No problem with fumes though.

I got rid of my rubber seal and on the road it keeps the engine bay cooler. I just cut universal stuff just long enough to keep it off the dizzy. had a problem with it corroding the cap.

nice car, ryan91rs. I've always liked that color on camaros, at least when tehy are kept up. Is there a specific name for it? I always just say "that teal green color that came on late third gen camaros" Always wondered if it has a specific name.

You don't need it. I've pulled mine off on all 4 of my birds and have yet to have any problems.
If you feel that you need to replace it, I have one that you could have for a nominal fee.
