LT1 with bent connecting rod

Anyone know if an LT1 can be bored out beyond .030 over? Someone I know has a bent rod. I thought I saw that boring LT1s too much is not a good idea (for some reason).

I think you might be right, i've heard they aren't that friendly to rebuild, not enough cylinder wall to them....
Have to sonic check it to know though

Re: LT1 with bent connecting rod

.060" is typically the "limit", just like with most Gen 1 350s. Anything beyond .030 though, get it checked, as Sonix suggested.

Re: LT1 with bent connecting rod

I have connecting rods and pistons in good shape from a Gen 1 350. Will using them in an LT1 block cause a problem?

As long as its from a 1pc rear seal Gen 1 motor, it shouldn't be a problem. Just note that the LT1 rotating assembly was balanced differently from a generic 350, due to the LT1's lightweight pistons. If you use LT1 pistons on a normal Gen 1 crank/rods, it will require balancing. Normal 350 pistons can be used though, as they are dimentionally the same as the LT1 stuff.

Re: LT1 with bent connecting rod

Yeah it can usually be bored out more than .030, like adam said I've seen .060 before. Those pistons and rods will work but also like he said, have them all balanced!

Re: LT1 with bent connecting rod

If I find a set of LT1 pistons and rods they would also need to be balanced since they did not come with this current crankshaft?
